The man eater has the same ability as the girl? Are all man eaters - those children? Interesting, so the scenes from the facility are from the past after all, as it was also shown in dates in cameras in previous episodes.
That one guy from the ship seemed to have a split personality.
"You-kan! So you-can eat it!" Lmao
Another amazing episode

Lily • 1 year ago

but isn't Maru looking for the facility to save Tokio? I thought the two story lines are happening at the same time since the facility director told Tokio the outside world is hell and Mimihime said she had a feeling two ppl from outside world were gonna come and help them..

Blessed Stealth • 1 year ago

Guys, maybe maru is the baby shown in this episode that called Takio!!!

EM • 1 year ago

That's what we all thought. There's also a chance that I'm completely wrong and everything is happening at the same time after all

Relextor • 1 year ago

It could also be that the maneaters and the children are connected in some manner, but are not the same being, therefore they can exist at the same time

WorldGN18 • 1 year ago

I was under the same impression for the same reasons but it is true that the video footage seems to suggest is 2017 so that would mean is pre apocalypses so maybe something is going to happen in that facility that will lead to the destruction of the world as we know it?

mr insanity • 1 year ago

I think when they said two people from the outside are going to help them. They didn't say when pregognition stuff so I think what they mean by help is for kiru and maru to end there suffering as monsters and u know kill them since they particularly good at that

Makaveli Musolini • 1 year ago

So, do I need to rewatch the first episode to be sure or are these 2 storylines happening at the same time. I'm confused now.

Dazed • 1 year ago

'Split personality'? We really live in the age of prematurely diagnosing someone with mental illnesses.

It's just a very typical comedic twist on the gangster stereotype. A coolheaded boss, who doesn't take personal offense and is intelligent and the uncouth, aggresive lackey who's hostile to everyone but his boss, bc he wants others to not underestimate his boss, who he has unlimited respect for. But since he always impulsively reacts before his boss does, he only knows afterwards wether his boss minds or not. And when he realizes his boss doesn't mind, he changes his tune, bc he agrees with anything the boss thinks.

It's always suprisingly complex to explain, but on screen it's pretty intuitive.

Cher Lee • 1 year ago

Yea, not sure why people think that was split personality, That guy was just a yes man. Kids nowadays arent very smart so they can get confused.

Dazed • 1 year ago

I think the easy access we have to knowledge, just makes us carelessly lazy with how we use it. Which is all the more true for the generation who has only known knowledge to be easily accessible. When you get bombarded with so much information, you stop taking the proper time to really understand the thing you're reading about in it's bigger context. People now, even though they're not a doctor or studying psychology, have access to all the different names for mental illnesses. They understand roughly what the illness is on itself, but beyond that they lack a framework to put it in and really understand it. As a result you get these flighty associations that superficially align, but still completely miss the mark because your knowledge surrounding the term is just as superficial.

Though this is just pure conjecture or rambling.

xXPORTALXx • 1 year ago

I mean a lot of ppl, myself included, also take psych in high school, and as such get a brief intro to the material (which is largely forgotten after as well),

OfficialDrixMalone • 11 months ago

Thus the reason for his comment...

Reemus • 1 year ago

Couldn't have put it in a better way, thank you. People are really going to extremes today, looking for "blue curtain" everywhere and unable to appreciate the finer, but also less important parts of works.

EM • 1 year ago

Yeah, maybe I got a bit carried away here with all the crazy stuff happening and went and assumed something like that ^^'

Dazed • 1 year ago

No problem, sorry if I came on too strong.

OfficialDrixMalone • 11 months ago

No you didn't, they just didn't know wtf they were talking about and needed correction, simple.

Ondrej Kodytek • 1 year ago

I thought he was just joking.

Dazed • 1 year ago

Perfectly possible, but it's still a sign of the times, since mental illness is still the fixation/foundation of the joke. :)

Ondrej Kodytek • 1 year ago

I mean, the gangster. But yes, maybe EM too.

Dazed • 1 year ago

Oh. Can't say. The comedy works better if the gangster actually is 100% serious about his change in attitude. So, I don't think of it as him joking.

Kirito • 1 year ago

I just love this end of the world thing in this anime where there's still people but the city is messy and you have to find food in an abandoned house for free

Don_Scampie • 1 year ago

Remember the picture of the fish, which she wanted?

Kato • 1 year ago

This is kinda giving me the westworld season 1 vibes. We cannot say anything concrete until they reveal it.

OfficialDrixMalone • 11 months ago

Yo, you watched westworld too?! Hell yeah, haven't met anyone online in the anime community who has watched yet (or just haven't announced they have), definitely was a great watch though. I actually have some episodes left to watch in the most recent season though.

SR -! • 1 year ago

wait wait wait...now i gotta go back to the previous episodes and figure out who became a man eater.

this actually makes sense considering the maneater is the drawing that she has and wanted.

Time. • 1 year ago

Right those children did looked like man eaters, the way the bottom looked, it looks like it could fuse with something. Just a guess, might be wrong.

Marek Šajner • 1 year ago

Maybe the other way around, all of those children are man eaters?

Lai Sing Wei • 1 year ago

that dude is simply a pushover.

EM • 1 year ago

Maybe, yeah

Retad • 11 months ago

i dont think its a split personality thing, he just changes his opinion to that of his boss lol

Nan Demo K(Nai)ves • 1 year ago

What man eater and girl are you talking about? The fish and Kuku? What ability are you talking about, how she's able to climb walls?

EM • 1 year ago

Yes, I meant them.

Klaxxi • 1 year ago

Would be a cool twist since the facility r making the man eaters after all from the looks of it altho idk how it would be in the end of the story if the facility is from the past and all the kids from there have turned into monsters apart from maybe some interaction with the robot that somehow shuts down the remaining monsters

Devin • 1 year ago

Wdym plz explain( i still haven’t finished the ep)

EM • 1 year ago

At the start of the previous episode it showed a flashback from 2034 which was 5 years ago so for Kiruko and Maru it's 2039
But then if we go to episode 2 (12:42) it shows a camera perspective and there is a date on bottom right: 17/06/23
So the events we see in the facility are actually in the past

TheBigFool • 1 year ago

Given that the date in this episode is t17/07/01, it is kind of weird.

Because the 17 has not changed, I am guessing that is the year. Since it was 06/23 but now it's 07/01, I am guessing if its a date it goes:

Year/Month/Day - 17/07/01.

Since the current year with the MCs is 2039, that means that the facility's time is July 1st of 2017, or 07/01/2017.

So this is the year 2017 from the facility videos according to the recording.

The director said that the outside world is hell. So either everything falls into chaos before 2017 or nothing has to fall into chaos and she is lying or really believes everything is hell, and the actions of the people there are what will make chaos.

Assuming Kiru was 14 in 2034, and he says that when he was 3 he still went to a train before everything went to hell, that would mean in 2023 everything went to hell.

Wait minute......THIS YEAR IS 2023!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ondrej Kodytek • 1 year ago

If it's Japanese then 17/07/01 means 1st of July of the year ...17. East Asian dates are always given in the logical order, larger units before smaller ones.
Of course, year ...17 could be 2017, Reiwa 17 (2035), or something else.

In 2034, Kiruko was supposedly 15, her brother 13. So the apocalyptic event would take place in 2024.

TheBigFool • 11 months ago

So we have 1 more year, yay!

Ondrej Kodytek • 11 months ago

1 year and 4 months. On episode 3, 17:14, the banner actually says: 20 September 2034. 10 years since the cataclysm. Japan, let's keep it up!
Which makes me think, what about the rest of the world? But if it were any better, it would make itself felt. If nothing else, there would be postapo tourists. So it seems to be the same or worse.

EM • 1 year ago

Didn't notice the dates in this episode... Kinda confusing, huh?
And I guess the world will be on fire yet again this year too lol!

Dbz Directioner • 1 year ago

Damn, Nice observation. I would have never figured it out.

vovan1 • 1 year ago

yeah i figured that part, we see 2 generations.
Pre-apocalipse and post-apocalipse.

Kirito • 1 year ago

Did not expected that I thought it was happening the same time because that tokio kinda looks like that guy with miruko

Devin • 1 year ago

Ah you’re a detail viewer huh. What else can you tell me sir

EM • 1 year ago

I actually got this from twitter lol. Just wanted to share
Not sure what else can I tell at the moment...

Devin • 1 year ago

Okay

EM • 1 year ago

If you mean the split personality thing it's how the man from the ship says contradicting stuff at 12:53 and 13:05 and a second time at 14:13 and 14:21

Devin • 1 year ago

No I mean the other thing you said

bufu • 1 year ago

"No THANKS, I mean the other thing you said"
